West Ham Want Fiorentina Star Adrian Mutu - Report

The Londoners have targeted the Romanian hitman and his agent has refused to rule out a January exit.

Premier League strugglers West Ham could launch an audacious bid for Fiorentina striker Adrian Mutu during the January transfer window, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Hammers technical director, Gianluca Nani, has reportedly turned his attention to the ex-Chelsea man after Bayern Munich forward Luca Toni snubbed a move to Upton Park earlier this month.

Mutu is tied to Fiorentina until June 2012 and is currently on the sidelines. The 30-year-old has been hampered by injury problems throughout the first half of the season and has slipped down the pecking order at the Franchi due to the form of Alberto Gilardino and Stevan Jovetic.

And Mutu's agent, Giovanni Becali, has hinted his client could indeed opt to seek a fresh start when the transfer window opens in the new year.

“I can’t rule out the possibility of Mutu leaving in January,” the representative told the tabloid.

“Adrian just needs to get well and play. We’ll see if any offers come in next month.”
