Arsenal Still In For Bordeaux Striker Marouane Chamakh - Report
Arsenal are reportedly back in the hunt for Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh.
With Robin van Persie out with a long-term injury, Arsene Wenger is in need of some offensive reinforcment and it is thought Chamakh is his first choice.
After nearly signing the player last summer, Wenger plans to return to negotiate with Bordeaux in the January transfer window.
According to the tabloid, a source close to the deal said: "Wenger has made it clear to Marouane and his agent he still very much wants to sign him.
"But Marouane doesn't want to go to war with Bordeaux again like he did in the summer when Arsenal didn't match their valuation. So the player prefers to sign a pre-contract and go in the summer."
Wenger is also believed to be lining up Rennes striker Jeremy Briand, who is also wanted by Marseille.
