Roma's Francesco Totti Welcomes Rumours Of Luca Toni Signing
The talismanic captain would welcome forward competition...
On-form Roma stalwart Francesco Totti has once again moved to praise his club for their attempts to bring unhappy Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni to the Italian captail.
Following confirmed reports in November that the two had discussed such a move by telephone, Totti has once more stated his approval, this time via his official blog.
He said, "With the winter market approaching, I'm sure that the club will do us a nice favour during the January transfer window, so that we can be even more competitive in the league and in Europe.
"I've read in the papers about several possible reinforcements, and all the names mentioned are those of good players. Whoever joins us must be someone who makes us stronger, but I won't state my own preference as that's a task for the management and of course the coach.
"Certainly I think that Luca Toni is a solid and consistent striker, and he's a world champion. The others whose names keep cropping up are also great players and I'd be pleased to see them join us."
