The Brazilian is ready to take a wage cut to return to his homeland.

Roma full-back Cicinho has given the strongest indication yet that he wishes to leave the Stadio Olimpico in January and re-join his former side Sao Paulo.

“I have a big desire to play for Sao Paulo and January will be decisive,” the 29-year-old confessed to Radio Globo.

“But Roma are unwilling to release me at the moment.”

Cicinho has been on the fringes of the squad this season following his recovery from knee surgery and has mustered just four appearances in all competitions.

And the ex-Real Madrid man is even prepared to accept a pay cut to leave the Italian capital, provided that the Giallorossi grant him his wish to move to Sao Paulo.

“Yes, if Roma opened talks with another European club, I would not agree to earn less money,” he explained.

“I want to pull on the Sao Paulo shirt again. That’s my will, but the final decision is up to Roma because I am contracted to them.”
