Morocco’s Mehdi Benatia: I’m Ready For A New Club
The Atlas Lions would like to be transferred away from Clermont Foot during the winter transfer window.
According to footmercato.com, Moroccan international
defender Mehdi Benatia has once again deemed himself ready to leave his current
club, Clermont Foot, in favor of a Ligue 1 club or a foreign championship.
“I want to leave Clermont this winter. I came to an agreement with the sporting director who will let me go if I get a good offer. I’d like to play in Ligue 1 but if I don’t get anything serious then I’ll be forced to go abroad,” he explained.
Furthermore, the Evry native says that he is currently being scouted by a Portuguese scout who is representing an unnamed club from the country.
“Since two or three weeks there’s a Portuguese recruiter who’s tracking me. He told me that he’s been hired by a big Portuguese club. I think it is Sporting Lisbon and of course I’m interested. It’s a big club that regularly plays in European Cups!”
Benatia, who is widely considered as one of the most promising up and coming defenders at Morocco’s disposal, has been looking for a move away from Ligue 2 for the past year but hasn’t been able to secure a transfer yet.
