Chelsea's ability to spend in January - while the appeal against their currently suspended transfer ban awaits - could see them launch a mega spending spree, and the Stamford Bridge side continue to be linked with a £35 million purchase of Argentine wonderkid Sergio Aguero.

According to a report in The People, Aguero, who has already been the target of a number of rejected bids from Chelsea, allegedly, will again be the subject of a record Blues offer, with the added clause that the club will loan the forward back to Atletico Madrid until the summer.

Chelsea had originally been banned from entering the transfer market in the winter, and next summer, by FIFA because of the "inducement" involved in bringing French teen Gael Kakuta to west London.

The European Court of Abitration for Sport suspended the ban until an appeal can been heard in the Spring.

AC Milan's Brazilian striker Alex Pato, who was coached by current Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti while the Italian tactician was in charge of the San Siro side, is also an apparent target for the Blues.
