Report: Manchester City Enter Secret Talks For Bayern Munich's Frank Ribery

The Frenchman could be prised away from Bavaria.....

Franck Ribery, Bayern Munich (MARCA)
According to the News of the World, Manchester City have begun covert negotiations with Bayern Munich in the hope of prising Franck Ribery away from the German giants.

Sky Blues boss Mark Hughes was in the stands during the week as Bayern fell to Girondins Bordeaux in Champions League action, a result that leaves the club in serious danger of failing to reach the knockout round.

Such an outcome would make it difficult to keep hold of Ribery, who was reported to have been frustrated by the board's stubborn refusal entertain any of the many suitors who came in for him last summer.

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Juventus, Chelsea and Liverpool are just a few of the clubs that were thought to have coveted the French playmaker - Florentino Perez's Galacticos most of all.

But now it is mega-rich Man City leading the charge, and it is understood that they hope to lure Ribery to Eastlands with the promise £200,000-per-week wages.

The 26-year-old is currently recovering from a tendon injury that could keep him out of action until March, meaning any move will have to wait for next summer.
