Italian international forward Luca Toni is eager to return to the peninsula during the January transfer window after becoming a peripheral figure at German giants Bayern Munich.

Press reports have suggested that Milan and Napoli are in pole position to secure his services, but the player’s agent, Tullio Tinti, has admitted that Roma are also an option for his client.

“Should an opportunity to join Roma arise, Toni and I would gladly evaluate it,” Tinti revealed to romanews.eu.

Tinti was at Trigoria last Thursday to discuss the contract situation of Mauro Esposito with the Lupi directors, but he insists Toni’s name did not come up.

“I didn’t talk about Toni with them,” he said.

“After all, it is too early and we are still at the beginning of October.

“Before anything else, Toni wants to see how the situation evolves in Germany. He is fine now, he has recovered from injury and is ready to play. In due time, we will see where we stand…”

The former Palermo and Fiorentina hitman is tied to the Bavarians until June 2011 on wages of €6 million per season.
