Report: Inter & Lazio Ponder Marko Arnautovic-Goran Pandev January Swap
The Nerazzurri are still keen on the Macedonian ace and could give up a 50 per cent share in Arnautovic to secure him.
The summer transfer window may have only just come to a close last week, but Inter and Lazio are already in talks to complete a high-profile swap deal during the winter session of the Calciomercato, according to Il Tempo.
It is suggested that Lazio president Claudio Lotito has made a proposal to Nerazzurri counterpart Massimo Moratti to transfer Biancocelesti rebel Goran Pandev to the San Siro in exchange for Austrian starlet Marko Arnautovic.
The Macedonian striker has refused the terms of a new deal with the Eternal City club and Lazio risk losing him on a Bosman next summer, when his current contract expires.
Therefore, Lotito is hoping to recoup at least part of his investment by brokering an elaborate deal with the Nerazzurri.
The agreement would take the form a straight loan swap, but Inter would effectively compensate the Roman club with a 50 per cent share in Arnautovic, who is reportedly valued at €5-6 million.
Inter will then decide next summer whether to let Arnautovic stay in Rome on a co-ownership basis or bring him back to Appiano Gentile by paying the agreed fee.
Meanwhile, Pandev has been linked to Inter for some time, and would be expected to sign for them as a free agent at the end of the season if this deal was completed.
