Although the summer transfer window has been shut and bolted, Lyon could yet make one more switch in the market due to French transfer rules, which allow clubs to make one additional ‘joker’ signing, with Guingamp star Richard Soumah still hotly linked to the Rhone Valley side.

Football365
suggests that Lyon could make Soumah their wildcard signing, which has to be completed with another French club.

General manager Claude Puel has been reportedly linked with the left-sided midfielder virtually since the close of the season, and the decision to sell Anthony Mounier, a player who operates in the same position as the 22-year-old, to Nice has done little to dispel the rumours.

However, the report states that Guingamp president Noel Le Graet does not want to sacrifice one of his most renowned stars, especially one who has yet to seriously contribute to their season due to an injury worry.

Paris Saint-Germain, who offloaded Jerome Rothen to Scottish outfit Rangers on the final day of the British transfer window, have also been closely associated with a move for Soumah, who is a native of Creteil, a suburb of the French capital.

Meanwhile, there is also talk of Nicolas Nkoulou, Monaco’s burgeoning young centre-back joining OL. Although prone to the occasional error, the 19-year-old has proven to be a very capable Ligue 1 starter, but he has already questioned his place with les Monegasques after falling out of the starting XI after a 4-0 loss away to Nancy.

Manchester United reportedly had an interest in the Cameroon international at the start of the summer, as well as his Monaco team-mate, Cedric Mongongu, who is also a promising defender.
