Paris Saint-Germain’s Jerome Rothen Tipped For Rangers Switch

Les Parisiens’ outcast could make his way to Scotland, where the transfer deadline does not pass until later on Tuesday…

Ligue 1 : Jérôme Rothen (Paris SG)
Although Jerome Rothen has been trying to forge a path away from Paris Saint-Germain throughout the summer, he finds himself still at the Parc des Princes with the local transfer market having closed. However, he could take advantage of the extended transfer window in Great Britain by signing for Scottish Premier League club Rangers, according to L’Equipe.

After falling out with the backroom staff at les Parisiens, Rothen has made no secret of his desire to leave, though head coach Antoine Kombouare, who only arrived at the club after the player made controversial comments to the press about certain members of staff, has indicated his willingness to have the experienced left-sided player in his squad.

Many clubs have expressed an interest in the former Champions League finalist, but none have as yet been tempted to take a gamble on him, though Blackburn Rovers appeared very close to signing him in mid-August.

The sportspaper reports that Rangers will make a decision before noon today as to whether to make a move for Rothen, who would become eligible for their Champions League campaign. If any switch does take place, it would likely be in the form of a loan deal with the option to buy at the end of the season for €1 million (£880,000).

Rothen, 31, is primarily used as a left-sided midfielder and has been at PSG for five seasons, during which time he has made well over 100 Ligue 1 appearances for the capital side.
