Transfer Rumours And Round-Up: August 30-31

Goal.com rounds off another weekend of transfer market madness...

Rafael Van der Vaart celebrates his goal for Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup clash against Valencia at the Mestalla
The old rumour linking Barcelona to Manchester City's Robinho is back, only this time it's reported that the Citizens have turned down an approach from the Spanish giants.

There have been rumours that Yaya Toure of Barca would be heading the other way to join up with his brother, Kolo, but the Ivorian midfielder scotched those rumours over the weekend.

As for Eidur Gudjohnsen, he has allegedly turned down a last minute offer from City, and the Barca man's likely destination is still said to be Monaco. Dmytro Chygrynskiy, a new Barca arrival, will be presented on Monday.

And, in a slightly more fanciful Anglo-Catalan rumour, Newcastle United's Jose Enrique says that only Barcelona could coax him away from Tyneside. It's fairly likely, then, that he's going nowhere...

Cesc Fabregas, linked with a move away from Arsenal seemingly every week, is set to stay at the Emirates, but Camp Nou chairman Joan Laporta admitted that the Catalan club 'loves' their former son.

Atletico Madrid's John Heitinga is apparently set for an Everton switch after the two sides agreed a fee. Pablo Ibanez, meanwhile, could leave the Colchoneros for Zaragoza.

Then there's an Italo-English rumour, namely that big-spending lower league side Notts County are after Christian Vieri, who is still without a club.

Matthew Upson of West Ham United is linked with an unlikely sounding move to Fiorentina, with the lure of the Champions League and a significant fee allegedly in the offing. Yeah, right.

Juventus, still looking for full-back improvements, have issued Lyon with an ultimatum over the on-again, off-again switch involving Fabio Grosso.

Real Madrid have had a quiet 24 hours for a change, but Miguel Torres could leave for Getafe.

Back in the UK, Australian international Scott McDonald could leave Scottish side Celtic for Wigan Athletic, while Manchester United allegedly failed in a shock bid for their city neighbours' star Stephen Ireland.

Finally, down in London, Tottenham Hotspur failed to land Sandro from Internacional, as they continue to track Rafael van der Vaart to replace the crocked Luka Modric; and Arsenal want Serbian teenage star Veljko Batrovic, touted - as so many youngsters are - as the new Lionel Messi.
