No Paris Saint-Germain Switch For Landon Donovan
The American international had been tipped to make the jump to Ligue 1, but he has moved to reject the rumours.
“There was interest,” the 27-year-old explained to the Los Angeles Times. “But nothing will happen before the end of the year. I’m not thinking about leaving at this time, but it’s always good to feel wanted.”
Donovan, who excelled in his country’s unlikely run to the Confederations Cup final in South Africa this summer, will see his contract with the MLS side expire in December, and his statement has opened the door up for a potential post-Christmas move.
There is unlikely to be any shortage of interest in the former Bayer Leverkusen man, who has long been established as one of the top players on the North American continent. Italian side Livorno, for example, have reputedly taken a shine to the attacker.
Meanwhile, PSG are still trying to offload want-away left-winger Jerome Rothen, but their attempts keep failing. Nice are the latest side to have taken an interest in the one-time Champions League finalist, but they have decided to search for targets elsewhere.
