Palermo President Open To Simplicio – Radu Swap With Lazio
The Rosanero boss has confirmed their interest in the Romanian and is ready to sacrifice the Brazilian midfielder.
After Gabriel Paletta’s move to the Stadio Barbera fell through, Palermo are desperately searching for a defender to complete their rearguard, and the latest name mooted is that of Stefan Radu, who is currently at Lazio.
New boss Walter Zenga would relish the opportunity to work with Radu again after having him in his ranks at Dinamo Bucharest, and president Maurizio Zamparini says that Lazio’s reported interest in midfielder Fabio Simplicio could facilitate negotiations.
“Yes, we should sit down and talk,” he said on Radio Incontro.
“My player cost €8 million, while Lazio paid €3.5m for Radu. We don’t really need the cash, as our books are balanced, and would prefer a swap.
“If both parties agree to it, it can be done, I guess within the next ten days.”
Simplicio has reportedly refused the terms of a new deal with the Rosanero to extend his stay in Sicily beyond 2010, and would jump at the chance to reunite with coach Davide Ballardini, who has joined Lazio this summer after a single season at the Barbera.
