Napoli To Challenge Juventus For Lyon's Fabio Grosso - Report
The Azzurri are looking to squeeze their way through to the Lyon stopper...
Napoli are ready to overtake Juventus in the race to land Olympique Lyonnais defender Fabio Grosso, according to L'Equipe.
Partenopei sporting director Pierpaolo Marino has been given orders by patron Aurelio De Laurentiis to throw a rope to Grosso and drag him to the San Paolo this summer. The report emanating from France claims Lyon are ready to allow Grosso to leave as they are on the verge of completing their move for Porto's Aly Cissokho.
Napoli initially tried their hand for Juve's Paolo De Ceglie, but the player insisted upon staying in Turin. With Donadoni aiming for reinforcements on the left side, the Azzurri are ready to plan a move.
However, the Bianconeri are also keeping their eye on the Italian. Reports back in June claimed Juve were wheeling and dealing for Grosso and a player plus money deal with Lyon for Trezeguet was mooted. However, the deal evaporated and the Turin-based club focussed all their efforts on landing Felipe Melo.
Juve's move for Grosso is now under threat. The latest reports from Italy, emanating from Il Sussidiario.net, claim the Bianconeri are still keen on the left-back.
