Report: Genoa Sign Rodrigo Palacio From Boca Juniors

The Argentines have accepted a €3m bid from the Grifoni for the 27-year-old striker.

Rodrigo Palacio - Boca Juniors
Rodrigo Palacio will have the daunting task of filling compatriot Diego Milito’s boots at the Stadio Marassi next season as Genoa have struck a deal with Boca Juniors, according to Argentine newspaper Clarin.

Palacio will cost the Ligurians a fee in the region of €3 million plus the renewal of a loan deal for hitman Luciano Figueroa, who spent last season at La Bombonera.

Palacio, who has netted 54 goals in 131 appearances for Boca since 2005, is expected to commit his future to the Rossoblu until 2013 and will earn €925,000-a-year.

Genoa have put together an impressive striking force after selling Milito to Inter, as Palacio will fight it out for a starting place with compatriot Hernan Crespo and former Atalanta star Sergio Floccari.

But Genoa’s shopping spree in South America is far from being over and the Grifoni are also in negotiations to capture Boca midfielder Sebastian Battaglia.
