Lokomotiv Moscow To Move For Sporting CP's Marat Izmailov

The Russian club are keen to have the midfielder back in their ranks again...

Marat Izmailov left Lokomotiv Moscow to join Sporting CP on loan in 2007, with the Portuguese club choosing to make it a permanent €4.5 million deal one year later after a positive first season at the Jose Alvalade.

News daily Sovietsky Sport reported on Monday that Izmailov was one of the top targets for Lokomotiv Moscow's new coach Yuri Siomin this summer, and the player's agent has now confirmed that an approach by the Russian club has been made.

"Nikolai Naumov, president of Lokomotiv, called me," Paulo Barbosa told Record. "It was a preliminary conversation about the transfer. The club have shown an interest in the player."

Barbosa noted, however, that "there is a long way to go" before his client can know if the transfer is viable or not, as Lokomotiv have only declared their interest in the 26-year-old
winger or attacking midfielder.
