Lazio president Claudio Lotito has rejected a bid from Russian side Zenit St Petersburg for Goran Pandev.

Lotito recently claimed Pandev could be sold if the right money was offered, otherwise he would be staying. Early indications suggest the bid from Zenit did not entertain the Italian chief, but the Russian's still have hope of landing the hitman, and they are determined to rescue negotiations.

"Lotito refused our first offer," Elisabetta Barloscze, who is the intermediary between both clubs, told Sky Sport Italia

"We will stay in Rome and wait to see if Lotito begins a new negotiation."

Sky Sport Italia claim the offer Zenit made was €15million, five million short of what the club is asking.

Lotito recently claimed Pandev was not on the market, but that he would consider offers close to his asking price.
