Stephane Sessegnon To Stay At PSG, Patrick Vieira Deal Dead

Although the Benin international had suggested he could leave the club, that notion has been dispelled at a press conference today, while Paris Saint-Germain officials are now conceding that brokering a deal for Vieira is likely to be a hopeless task.

Paris Saint-Germain have announced mixed news on the transfer front, asserting that dynamic midfielder Stephane Sessegnon will remain at the club while also stating that a deal for Inter midfielder Patrick Vieira will prove very hard to complete.

Les Parisiens were introducing new signings Mevlut Erding and Gregory Coupet to the press when coach Antoine Kombouare spoke of the Vieira deal.

Talks with the veteran midfielder are said to be “at a standstill”, with the former Valenciennes boss previously suggesting that the French captain is out of PSG’s ballpark due to his exorbitant wage demands.

Kombouare did state that he expects the club to complete at least one more signing, and according to L’Equipe, this will probably be of Lorient defender Christophe Jallet, who will provide cover on the right and in the centre of the rearguard.

Meanwhile, Jerome Rothen, who seemed destined to depart the Parc des Princes due to his unhappiness in the French capital, may be forced to stay on longer than he would have liked as “there is currently no club willing to pay the transfer fee”.

CEO Philippe Boindrieux announced that he is optimistic that the club can extend a number of current players’ contracts after Guillaume Hoarau inked a new deal last week. “Others should follow,” he stated.

Discussions with Sessegnon are said to be “progressing well”, after the versatile midfielder publicly announced his discontent at his relatively paltry deal, suggesting that he could leave for Chelsea.

“There are still some small issues to resolve. But in football, I have learned that there is nothing before it is signed. In any case, Stephane will be here next season,” the CEO concluded.

Although there are some negatives in the news, such comments will make PSG’s fans feel a little more confident about the new season.
