Transfer Rumours And Round-Up: July 1-2

Goal.com takes a look at another busy day in the market...

New Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz with manager Mark Hughes
Karim Benzema's transfer saga took more turns today than it has done in the previous few weeks combined. First the Spanish press said that Real Madrid had had an offer accepted; then Lyon angrily denied this and said that while they'd received a high offer, it was not necessarily Madrid's; then the player's agent said it was, in fact, that of the Blancos; and then Lyon announced their acceptance of a 41m euro bid for the striker!

In other big-spending news from the Casa Blanca, Real Madrid have sealed the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo meanwhile; the £80m has been paid, in full, to Manchester United and he is free to join Kaka at the Galacticos mk II.

At Barcelona, Keirrison's arrival is now imminent. The Brazilian forward will sign by July 13. He could be joined by Javier Mascherano and David Villa in the near future. It is understood that the Blaugrana have officially made an approach towards Liverpool for the Argentinian midfielder while the club have reportedly held talks with Valencia's Villa.

There is still confusion over the future of Samuel Eto'o though. The player's agent says that his client would be happy to do business with Manchester City, despite the offer of a new deal at Camp Nou.

The Sky Blues welcomed Roque Santa Cruz this afternoon and are set to unveil Carlos Tevez by Monday. An exclusive Goal.com report confirmed that the Argentinian is ready to settle for Eastlands after missing out on a move to Chelsea.

The west London club have allegedly ratcheted up their interest in Alexandre Pato with Milan still insistent that he won't leave. Manchester United are the latest club to register an interest in Andre-Pierre Gignac, the Toulouse forward.

Blackburn Rovers, in an attempt to replace Santa Cruz, are reportedly set to offer a trial to Christian Vieri.

The Italian's former club, Inter, confirmed the signing of Thiago Motta from Genoa but may have to wait longer to sign Marko Arnautovic. The terms of the deal have yet to be agreed with FC Twente with the Benemata having concerns over the state of the Austrian's ankle.

Aly Cissokho's agent has ruled out a move to the blue half of Milan however, he is still hoping that a deal can be agreed with the Rossoneri.

Andre Santos, of Corinthians, has declared himself ready to run to Serie A, with Juventus and Roma hot on his trail.

There has been movement too in the Bundesliga, with Josip Simunic leaving Hertha Berlin for Hoffenheim. Ze Roberto could be about to sign for Hamburg after leaving Bayern Munich on a free transfer while a former Bayern manager, Ottmar Hitzfeld, believes that the Bavarians would part with Franck Ribery for a fee of €70m-€80m.
