Report: Chelsea Step Up Chase For Milan Ace Alexandre Pato
A Chelsea emissary was in Milan yesterday to launch a fresh bid for the 'Duck’.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Blues chief Roman Abramovich’s right-hand man, Vlado Lemic, was spotted at the Diavoli’s headquarters in Via Turati yesterday.
It is suggested that his visit was not to open discussions over Italy star Andrea Pirlo, who is said to be top of new Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti’s hit-list, but Lemic allegedly made it clear that the west London club are willing to up the ante and offer up to €60 million for the services of Pato.
Galliani turned down a €50m bid last month and reiterated that the Rossoneri have no intention of parting with the Brazilian talent after selling compatriot Kaka to Real Madrid.
Pato stated last month that he would decide his future along with Ancelotti, who was his mentor, although he eventually corrected his statements. Galliani has now promised to offer him an improved deal to keep him at the San Siro.
