Transfer Rumours And Round-Up: June 28-29
Goal.com takes a look at another 24 hours in the transfer market...
The press are working overtime in all corners of the globe to reveal the hottest transfer tales, and today is no exception.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has confirmed that Manchester City have made a ‘stratospheric’ bid for Samuel Eto’o, offering the player a package that would make him the highest paid footballer in the world. But the Light Blues won’t stop there, planning to cross the city and bring Dutchman Arjen Robben to Eastlands as City's spending power looks like gathering pace.
Other Bacelona stars are also gathering interest. Aston Villa are keeping tabs on Belarusian misfit Aliaksandr Hleb, who has struggled to settle in Spain and may relish a return to England. Another Blaugrana star, Yaya Toure, is on Alex Ferguson’s radar at Manchester United, despite signing a contract extension at the Camp Nou earlier this week.
In Italy, AC Milan still can’t spend some of that Kaka cash, despite their best efforts. Sevilla’s brilliant Brazilian Luis Fabiano has ruled himself out of a switch to the San Siro, while Wolfsburg’s Edin Dzeko stated that he would like to join – but the club won’t sell him.
Indeed it looks more likely that another player will leave the Rossoneri before any new additions are made, and that man could be Alexandre Pato, with Carlo Ancelotti appearing hell-bent on bringing him to Stamford Bridge.
Inter followers can breathe slightly easier as Zlatan Ibrahimovic looks likely to remain in Italy, and Deco could soon be joining him, after declaring he no longer wants to play for Chelsea. Meanwhile, Marko Arnautovic flies back to Milan for more tests on his injured foot, as Massimo Moratti hopes to conclude a deal for the Twente star.
Villarreal make their first steps into adding to their squad, with Tottenham forward Roman Pavlyuchenko reportedly at the top of their wish list. Across London, West Ham want to bring Anton Ferdinand back to Upton Park from Sunderland, and have also joined the Marc-Antoine Fortune race along with Hull City and Celtic.
Finally, the Franck Ribery merry-go-round continues unabated, with Chelsea and London rivals Arsenal apparently set to make huge bids as the race to land the Frenchman gathers pace.
In Germany though, Christian Nerlinger insists that Bayern Munich are confident that Ribery will remain with the club despite the constant speculation about his future. This story is one that will just run and run folks....
