According to a report in the British tabloid The Daily Mirror, Premier League outfit Wigan Athletic are keeping tabs on Swansea City's Angel Rangel.

Swans manager Roberto Martinez is expected to succeed Steve Bruce at the JJB Stadium, possibly at some point next week.

It seems that the Latics are looking to make a double signing from the Welsh club, by adding 26-year-old Rangel to their ranks as well.

The 5ft 11in right-back has impressed at the Liberty Stadium since arriving from Terrassa for an undisclosed fee in 2007, helping them win promotion to the Championship in 2007/08, and finishing eighth in England's second-tier last season.

It is thought that the Spaniard, who has scored three goals in 98 appearances for Swansea City, might be available to purchase for a fee in the region of £3 million.
