According to reports in today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Fiorentina have set their sights on Roma and Italy midfielder Simone Perrotta and are currently mulling over a summer bid.

The World Cup winner has plied his trade in the Italian capital since 2004, when he moved from Chievo Verona.

But his contract with the Giallorossi is set to run out in June 2010 and he has failed to reach an agreement over an extension.

The player’s agent, Giuseppe Bozzo, has often stated that his client’s desire is to finish his career in Rome, but he admitted on Tuesday that the Lupi have yet to schedule a meeting to discuss Perrotta’s future.

Fiorentina are monitoring the situation and are ready to pounce in case Roma decided to offload the star.

Meanwhile, the Gigliati have reportedly targeted Hoffenheim right-back Andreas Beck, who has earned rave reviews this term after joining the Bundesliga new boys from Stuttgart last summer.
