Ryan Giggs has told Cristiano Ronaldo to resist any temptation to join Spanish giants Real Madrid and commit his future to Manchester United.

The Welsh wizard, who has won 11 Premier League titles with the Red Devils, believes that there is no better club in the world to play for.

The Portugal international winger was heavily linked with a move to los Blancos last summer and it has been suggested that he could finally complete a switch to the Santiago Bernabeu this year.

Although Giggs feels that los Merengues will become a force to be reckoned with once more, he is of the opinion that success at Old Trafford will be achieved on a more consistent basis.

"He is at the best club," Giggs is quoted as saying by The Sun when asked about Ronaldo.

"Cristiano has proved he is the best player in the world over the last couple of years and he has done that at United, so why leave?

"He's still a young player, still learning the game and can still improve. He can do that at United.

"Real Madrid will come back purely because of the club they are and the history they have got.

"But United are more stable in the fact there are no presidential elections and the manager's been here so long."

Turning his attentions to the Champions League final against Barcelona on Wednesday, the 35-year-old is confident Ronaldo will rise to the occasion and show why he was crowned the 2008 FIFA World Player of the Year.

"He's a big-game player,” Giggs enthused. “He was brilliant last season in the final and scored. He thrives on those games."
