FC Twente head coach Steve McClaren has opined that Marko Arnautovic would make more progress by staying with the Dutch outfit for one more season.

The 20-year-old versatile forward, who can play on the wing or through the middle, has been linked with a move to either Chelsea or Inter during the summer.

While some reports have claimed that a deal has been agreed for the four-time capped Austria international to join either the Blues or the Nerazzurri, the Tukkers have denied such speculation.

However, it seems that should a fee in the region of €15 million be met, Arnautovic may be allowed to move on.

But former Middlesbrough and England manager McClaren believes it could be a mistake for the youngster to make the switch now, and believes that he has the potential to establish himself at one of Europe's biggest clubs in the future.

"Marko is a big talent, who certainly has the capacity to succeed at the top," McClaren told AD Sportwereld.

"But it would have been better for him to have stayed for another year at FC Twente.

"T
hen Marko would have been sure of a starting place and he could develop further in a quiet environment.

"
I advised him that too, but he is very passionate and ambitious."
