Report: Inter Gunning For Roma’s Philippe Mexes & Chelsea’s Ricardo Carvalho
The Serie A champions are mulling over bids for the Roma and Chelsea centre-backs.
According to rumours in La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter are prepared to battle city rivals Milan for the signature of Roma defender Philippe Mexes but the Nerazzurri will also chase Chelsea's Ricardo Carvalho.
However, Mexes could opt to seek a fresh start after five seasons at the Stadio Olimpico and a €15 million bid would be enough to activate a release clause included in his contract.
Both Milan sides are apparently ready to pounce, however, Inter are also pondering a swoop for Portuguese centre-back Ricardo Carvalho, who has apparently asked the Blues to allow him to leave.
Jose Mourinho is said to be eager to reunite with his compatriot and the Nerazzurri are ready to table a €6m offer to bring him to the peninsula.
It is claimed that Inter’s technical director Marco Branca has already met with Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon. Apparently, the West London outfit have indicated that any decision on the squad will be made by their new boss, who is widely tipped to be Carlo Ancelotti.
