According to a report in the British tabloid The Daily Mail, Premier League giants Manchester United have once more turned their attentions to Wigan Athletic's Antonio Valencia.

The Red Devils have been linked with a swoop for the versatile midfielder for some time, as have Primera Division outfit Real Madrid.

A report on Monday claimed that los Blancos are ready to make a move for the 23-year-old at the end of the season as they are not convinced they will land Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, it is claimed that United have an agreement in place with the Latics to sign the 34-time capped Ecuador international for €22.3 million (£20m) should the 2008 FIFA World Player of the Year move to the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer.

Since joining Wigan Athletic from Villarreal in 2006, Valencia has scored seven goals in 87 appearances in all competitions.
