Speculation Linking Lyon's Karim Benzema With Manchester United Intensifies
The Red Devils are ready to part with €33.5 million to land the France international, who could replace Carlos Tevez...
Premier League giants Manchester United are once more being linked with an end of season move for Olympique Lyonnais striker Karim Benzema.
Argentina international Carlos Tevez has revealed that he is likely to leave Old Trafford when his two-year loan spell expires this summer, and the 21-year-old is being tipped as his successor.
It was recently claimed that the Red Devils tried to sign the 22-time capped France international, who has scored five goals for les Bleus, last year but were deterred by his €44.7 million (£40m) valuation and instead opted to purchase Dimitar Berbatov.
British tabloid The Sun reports that, although United are reluctant to meet Tevez's alleged €35.8m (£32m) price-tag, they are willing pay around €33.5m (£30m) for Benzema.
Having risen through les Gones' youth ranks, the 6ft forward has scored 40 goals in 107 Ligue 1 appearances.
Red Devils boss Alex Ferguson is said to have sent his brother, Martin, to watch the attacker in action against Paris Saint-Germain last weekend.
However, Manchester United are not the only European giants keeping tabs on the Lyon-born starlet, with the likes of Chelsea, Barcelona and Real Madrid all thought to be interested.
