Report: Juventus Prepare €10m Bid For Lazio Playmaker Cristian Ledesma
The Argentine is allegedly demanding a pay rise to stay in the capital and the Old Lady are ready to pounce.
According to Turin daily Tuttosport, Juventus are the latest side to have targeted Lazio midfielder Cristian Ledesma.
The Bianconeri are in turmoil after crashing out of the Coppa Italia this week and the fans expect a lavish summer transfer campaign to restore the club to its former glory.
And the Corso Galileo Ferraris directors have apparently pinpointed Ledesma as the right man to dictate play in the middle of the park.
Ledesma has a running contract with the Biancocelesti until June 2011 but there is mounting speculation that he will ask for a considerable pay rise at the end of the season.
Therefore President Claudio Lotito could decide to cash in on the 26-year-old so as to avoid losing him on the cheap because of FIFA’s Article 17.
Last summer, Ledesma’s agent repeatedly hinted that they could invoke Article 17 which would allow him to join a foreign club for a cut-down price.
Real Madrid are said to be monitoring the situation, but Juve are confident of sealing a deal by putting €10 million on Lazio’s table.
