Rosella Sensi: Birthday Boy Philippe Mexes Will Stay At Roma

The Giallorossi chief wished Mexes a happy birthday before insisting that the French stopper will remain at the club next season.

Despite constant speculation linking defender Philippe Mexes with a move to Milan at the end of the season, Roma president Rosella Sensi maintains that the Frenchman is not for sale.

There have been whispers that the Italian capital club could sacrifice the centre-back if they fail to book a place in next season’s Champions League.

Mexes celebrated his 27th birthday yesterday and Sensi reassured the Lupi fans that they have no intention of parting company with their defensive star.

“I want to wish him a happy birthday,” the president is quoted as saying in the Corriere dello Sport.

“But aside from that, there is no need to make any other wishes: it’s obvious that he will stay put.”

Mexes, who is currently on international duty with his national side, joined the Eternal City outfit from Ligue 1 side Auxerre in 2004 and has become a cult figure for the Stadio Olimpico crowd.
