Report: Juventus Could Get First Option On Palermo Defender Simon Kjaer

The Rosanero will allow the promising defender to move to Turin if they get Swedish midfielder Albin Ekdal on loan.

Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport today claims that Juventus could have the upper hand in the race to land Palermo stopper Simon Kjaer because the Sicilians are interested in Bianconeri 19-year-old midfielder Albin Ekdal.

Kjaer, who turned 20 yesterday, has been one of the revelations of the Serie A season. He joined the Rosanero from Midtjylland last summer and a number of top European clubs are rumoured to have joined the queue to secure his services at the end of the campaign.

Serie A giants Milan and Juventus are among the interested parties, however, Kjaer’s agent warned yesterday that his client will only depart Sicily for a fee of at least €12 million.

But Juve could sweeten the pot by including versatile Ekdal in the deal. If the Old Lady agree to let him join Palermo on loan next season, they could get first option to sign Kjaer in the summer of 2010.

Swedish Under-21 star Ekdal joined Juve from Brommapojkarna last year and has made a name for himself in the Primavera championship.
