Eto'o-Benzema Swap On The Cards
Barcelona seem to have found a way of offloading unwanted striker Samuel Eto’o by proposing a swap deal with Lyon for Karim Benzema according to reports in Spain.
Sport claims the French
club are keen on the Cameroon international and Barcelona are now trying to use
Eto’o as bait to try and convince Lyon to allow Benzema to move in the other
direction.
The proposed deal could get the nod and it seems as if Lyon president, Jean Michel Aulas, is keen on getting the ball rolling.
“If [Samuel] Eto’o decides to come here then we would be delighted,” said Aulas.
“We tried to sign him in the past but didn’t and now we have the capacity to do so.”
A number of top European sides have been after the striker but his high price tag and wages demands have scuppered any interest.
Lyon are likely to sign Eto’o as the club have already made it clear that they need strength up front as they prepare for battle in the Champions League.
