Giampaolo Pazzini Thrilled With Sampdoria's Coppa Italia Triumph
The new signing was at it again tonight as his brace led his side to a well deserved 3-0 victory.
Sampdoria hammered the reigning Italian champions Inter at the Luigi Ferraris stadium last night, running away with a comprehensive 3-0 victory in the Coppa Italia semi-finals.Goals to Antonio Cassano and Giampaolo Pazzini were enough for the Blucerchiati to record undoubtedly their most impressive result of the season, leaving them in a great position to progress to the final.
The recent signing and hero of the night, Pazzini, spoke to RAI Sport following the match to express his feelings on the match itself, as well as his plans for the future.
“I am overjoyed, as this is a really good time for me,” Pazzini confessed in the interview.
“I'm really happy because I have repaid the confidence and the faith that Sampdoria have shown in me.
“Tonight’s performance is a major achievement for us. We wanted to have a good match, and we did exactly that.
“Now we go to Milan with a healthy advantage, meaning that we can easily make it to the final.”
The former Fiorentina hitman had two final comments to make, in regards to the Italian national team and the recent comparisons he and Cassano have been drawing.
He said, “We are delighted with the comparisons to Gianluca Vialli and Roberto Mancini, as they are the history of this club.
“At the same time though, we are happy to let others make these comparisons.
“As for the national team, I am pleased with my form and my combination with Cassano, but for now I am only thinking about doing well with Sampdoria.”
The Blucerchiati will be hoping to continue this run of form in the league this weekend, when they travel away from home to play relegation-battling Bologna.
