Athletic Bilbao-Celta Betting Preview: Why the hosts should win without keeping a clean sheet

Our Spanish expert believes another home victory is on the cards for the Basques, but they may not be able to stop from conceding
While the Copa del Rey can feel like a mild irritation for some of Spain's top flight clubs, Athletic Bilbao have a long and proud tradition in the competition, which has seen them lift the trophy on 22 occasions. Only Barcelona have won it more times and on Thursday Athletic will have to come from a goal down against Celta if they are to progress to the last 16.

Betway price a home win at 9/20 (1.45) which given that Athletic are unbeaten at their new stadium this season looks about right. The Galician visitors meanwhile are offered at 6/1 (7.00) with the draw available at 3/1 (4.00).

As mentioned previously, Athletic's form at the new San Mames stadium has been superb, with their last game there seeing them inflict a first Liga defeat of the season on Barcelona.

The Basques have more than enough to overcome a Celta side that has been in predictably poor form on the road, losing 16 of their last 21 away matches in all competitions.

Luis Enrique's side have though manage to find the back of the net on their travels scoring in six of their eight away matches this season, which leads us to the proposition of backing Athletic to win and both teams to score.

This is offered at a healthy looking 43/20 (3.15) and looks like having an excellent chance of paying out for a sixth time this season for the side from Bilbao. Furthermore this bet comfortably paid out when the two sides met in Bilbao in the league back in September.
