Real Madrid keeper Iker Casillas admits that the team are content with the final result in their 3-1 Copa del Rey triumph over Atletico Madrid on Thursday evening.
Los Blancos fell behind to an early Diego Forlan goal, but struck back with efforts from Sergio Ramos, Cristiano Ronaldo and Mesut Oezil, and have a strong advantage ahead of the second leg at the Vicente Calderon next week.
Speaking to the media after the match, the Spanish World Cup winner remarked: “After the first goal has been conceded, the team have settled again and have been fair winners.
“The result is good, and we are excited about the team. The whole team has been very good, and we have demonstrated a high offensive level.”
Casillas also approached the subject of the attitude of the Santiago Bernabeu to the performances of Karim Benzema, stating that he is aware of the notoriously challenging home support.
He added: “Karim is playing for Real Madrid and knows that the public is demanding at the Bernabeu. He has the support of everybody. He has proven himself capable of scoring goals.”
