Portuguese centre-back Ricardo Carvalho has expressed his delight at the way he has become one of the stalwarts of Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid.
The defender joined the club from Chelsea in the summer and has been one of the best players for los Blancos, as his experience and defensive prowess have seen Madrid impress at the back both in the Spanish Primera Division and in the Champions League.
"I love this club and it is a pleasure to be here. I've adapted very quickly to the team," he stated on Real Madrid's official website. "The entire squad knows it is very important for the club to win. I've won at other clubs and must win again at Real Madrid."
Carvalho then spoke about the Merengues' upcoming clash with city rivals Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey.
"Mourinho has just given us his notes on Atletico Madrid. We know we must prepare hard to defeat them.
"He used this method too at Porto and Chelsea, pointing out our opponents' strong and weak points. He always knew what he wanted his team's to do.
"We know Atletico well, but everything is unpredictable in the end, so we try to do our best and play like a great team all the time.
"It is very important for us to keep a clean sheet and it will be even more crucial now that we play the first leg at the Bernabeu. We score goals because we have quality forwards, but it is also important not to concede any.
"Atletico have quality players. Both Kun Aguero and [Diego] Forlan are excellent and it is hard to choose one above the other."
