Inter midfielder Mateo Kovacic has voiced his admiration for Nemanja Vidic and believes the former Manchester United defender is exactly the type of player that the Serie A side needed.
The 32-year-old joined Inter on a free transfer this summer and Kovacic is confident the experienced centre-back will prove to be a shrewd addition.
"Vidic is an amazing player with vast experience," the Croatia international said via the official Inter Twitter account.
"Inter really needed someone like him."
The young midfielder then went on to praise Argentine attacker Mauro Icardi, who netted nine goals in 22 Serie A appearances for Inter last term and was also a key player in the pre-season clash with Real Madrid.
"Mauro's a nice lad and a great player," he said. "I hope he goes on to score tons of goals for us."
Inter failed to qualify for the Champions League last season, yet Kovacic remains hopeful of shining at the biggest club stage at some point in the future.
"I'd love to win the Champions League, that's everyone's dream," he added.
