The former Albania international has revealed that he has been receiving threatening texts and phone calls, and that his family are also being insulted

Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has revealed that he is being harassed by fans upset by the club's lack of transfer activity this summer.

The former Albania international was forced to meet with irate supporters after the Biancocelesti were beaten to the loan signing of Cagliari defender Davide Astori by city rivals Roma earlier this week.

Tare claims that he and his family have since been targeted by fans and given a less than subtle hint that he now needs to make amends by travelling to Netherlands to wrap up a deal for Feyenoord defender Stefan de Vrij.

“After the confrontation with the fans over Astori, the trouble started,” Tare told Il Tempo.

“Someone must have got hold of my phone number because I found it on the internet. The usual threatening messages started arriving and I also received strange calls, like one from [airline] Alitalia.

"Somebody had booked a flight in my name to Rotterdam. I spent two hours trying to undo it and figure out who had done this.

“In the next few days I’ll be forced to change my phone number again and that won’t be easy for me as it's a fundamental instrument in my line of work.

“I am going to have many problems but what upsets me the most are the things said to my family.”
