Chiellini: Roma win encapsulates Conte's Juventus

The Italy international has hailed the Bianconeri's coach's fine work and is determined to reach the 100-point mark this term

Giorgio Chiellini feels Juventus' hard-fought 1-0 win over Roma on Sunday perfectly encapsulates the mentality of the Turin giants under head coach Antonio Conte.

A draw would have sufficed for the Serie A champions to keep them on track to reach the 100-point mark this term, but a late Pablo Osvaldo goal eventually saw them bag the full three points at the Stadio Olimpico.

"I think Sunday’s victory encapsulates our team under Conte," Chiellini told reporters.

“Having the strength to go on and win it in the last minute when a draw would have been enough in terms of the dream of 100 points is thanks to the desire the boss instils in us.

"We played a great game, better even than we could have expected. We were playing for pride and the chance to set a new record points tally as well as showing that we’re worthy title winners."

The defender then went on to admit that Juventus never thought they could hit 100 points this season, but insisted that they are determined to make it happen now that they've come this far.

"Honestly I didn’t believe we’d be able to do it when we started out this season because 100 really is a lot, and any slip-up in such a difficult fixture list could have put an end to it.

“Now that we’re in this position though, with the chance to achieve the objective at home, we’ll give our all to pull it off."

Juventus have collected 99 points from 37 games so far. They meet Cagliari on matchday 38.
