thumbnail Hello,

The dazzling displays of Toto Salvio and impressive leadership qualities of Leonardo Bonucci are also recognised in our select XI of the tournament's last-eight ties

An extraordinary night of football brought the Europa League quarter-finals to a close on Thursday as Juventus, Benfica, Sevilla and Valencia booked their places in the last four in dramatic style.

In a round of stellar showings and courageous comebacks, selecting a best XI from across the two legs is no easy feat, but the players featured here did enough over the ties to earn a spot in Goal's latest Team of the Week.

In goal once again is Basel's Yann Sommer. The Borussia Monchengladbach-bound man bid farewell to continental competition with the Swiss champions with two fine displays against Valencia, denying the Spaniards an away goal in the first leg before pulling off a number of remarkable stops in the second. He may have conceded five on the night, but without his efforts, it could have been many more.

Leonardo Bonucci lines up in our three-man defence, after scoring the vital away goal in Lyon, before leading from the back as Juventus booked their place in the last four. Luisao joins him after two impressive showings and two clean sheets for Benfica against AZ, while Federico Fazio completes the back line after strong performances against Porto.

In central midfield two players enjoyed an entertaining battle across the two legs. Andrea Pirlo, whose masterful displays at the heart of Antonio Conte's side helped Juve overcome Olympique Lyonnais; and Steed Malbranque, who worked tirelessly across both legs to limit Juve's control in midfield help launch his side onto the attack.

Further forward, Matias Delgado earned our Player of the Week prize for his two-goal showing in the first-leg win over Valencia; and he is flanked by Vitolo, who sparkled in the rout of Porto, and Toto Salvio, who continues to look the standout player of the knockout phase after tormenting AZ across both legs.

In attack, Rodrigo earns a spot after converting two Salvio assists to put out AZ, while Valencia's rising star Paco Alcacer - this week's Player of the Week - lines up alongside him after his hat-trick against Basel.
