The 52-year-old trainer was unable to hide his disappointment after watching his side strike the woodwork twice in an unfortunate loss at San Siro
The Giuseppe Meazza side created numerous chances at San Siro but failed to net a second goal after Mauro Icardi's first-half equaliser and eventually ended up empty-handed following Giacomo Bonaventura's 90th-minute strike just moments after Rodrigo Palacio had struck the post.
"We’ve hit the woodwork so many times this year. It’s the kind of season this is," Mazzarri said at a press conference.
"Atalanta did well to score, but we gave it away. It would have been enough to just mark Bonaventura and we wouldn’t have lost.
"But even if we had taken just a single point you still can’t start a second half that way with so many wasted chances."
Inter sit fifth in the Serie A table following this weekend's results, with 47 points from 29 games.
