Sacchi backs Conte in Capello feud

The former Italy coach believes the current Juventus side play the most "beautiful" football even more so than the one under Marcello Lippi
Arrigo Sacchi has backed Antonio Conte in his ongoing feud with Fabio Capello, insisting that the 44-year-old's Juventus side play the most "beautiful" football.

Current Russia coach Capello criticised the Bianconeri for failing to get out of their Champions League group and also questioned Conte's decision to deny the team a day off after a 2-2 draw against Verona.

However, Conte hit back suggesting Capello should concentrate on his current job and that the former Juventus boss' achievements were forgotten after his two league titles were revoked due to the Calciopoli scandal.

But despite Sacchi revealing his displeasure with the argument, he said Conte's Juve were the finest side, even more so than Marcello Lippi's outfit, who won five Scudetti and a Champions League.

“The argument between the two? These are things that are displeasing. In this case, Capello had not said much, but had at other times and Conte responded pretty hard," he told Mediaset Premium.

“I’ve never been a fan of Juventus: they have had great players, but they have not been harmonious.

“I think this Juventus is the most beautiful that I remember - and I remember many, unfortunately.

“Even more beautiful than Lippi's team: they are much more harmonious, they are a team that knows everything. You watch this Juventus and it seems that football is the simplest thing in the world.”

Juventus face Trabzonspor in the Europa League last 32 at the Juventus Stadium on Thursday, before returning to domestic action against Torino on Sunday.
