Pitch flooding suspends Roma-Parma

Roma's clash with Parma on Sunday was suspended due to torrential rain and a flooded pitch.

Neither side could fashion a chance in the opening eight minutes as the ball skidded off the water-soaked surface at the Stadio Olimpico and the referee spent the following three minutes testing whether it was wise to continue.

The home crowd entertained themselves by cheering Andrea De Marco's every testing ball bounce, but booed as he told the players - who were protesting for play to continue - to leave the pitch shortly afterwards.
The Giallorossi were hoping to go three points behind Juventus, temporarily at least, with a home win ahead of the Scudetto holders' evening encounter with Inter.

However, the referee officially delayed the tie to a later date 10 minutes after leading the teams back into the changing rooms in Rome, meaning Roberto Donadoni's team will return to Rome in the upcoming weeks to finish the game.
