thumbnail Hello,

We asked whether or not the Rossoneri coach should be sacked if his side are beaten by Serie A's basement boys and the majority feel defeat should spell the end of his tenure

AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri must be sacked should his troops lose out to Chievo on Sunday, according to Goal's readers.

The San Siro side have suffered a poor start to the season, winning only three of their 11 Serie A matches thusfar in a run that has left them 11th in the standings and a staggering 19 points behind league leaders Roma.

Despite Milan CEO Adriano Galliani insisting that Allegri's job is safe for now, reports in Italy this weekend suggested the club have already drawn up a plan to replace him if the Chievo game goes badly.

Consequently, we surveyed readers to ask whether a negative result should indeed spell the end of Allegri's tenure.

The results were decisive, with 65.2 per cent of readers saying Allegri should be sacked if the club fail to beat Chievo.

Of the minority who disagreed, 12.1% thought Allegri deserved a month or two more to see if he could turn things around. A total of 11.8% felt he should be given until the end of the current season, while the remaining 10.9% said he should not be sacked at all.

Selected readers' Views:

Haerie Ramli"Time is up for him. His tactics are lame. It's too late to turn Milan around like last season. He can't motivate any players and always he uses predictable tactics. I like Prandelli as a coach but somehow I love the idea of Inzaghi on the bench more."

Christo: "I see no point in sacking a coach in middle of season. By the time the new coach installs his system, the season is over. I do believe that Allegri's time is up. I also think major change needs to happen at Milan for this team to get back on track. Starting on the medical side, this is the most injury-prone team in the world. Then, they must get a new coach (Roberto Di Matteo) but get him as soon as the season is over so he can implement his system. Then the transfer market strategy needs to change. Sign the players early as possible so they could get ready with the team so there's no slow start to the season."
