The coach was thrilled with the Nerazzurri's resounding win but wants to build on his side's current form

Walter Mazzarri has insisted that Inter can keep on improving following their 7-0 hammering of Sassuolo on Sunday.

The Nerazzurri continued their unbeaten start to the Serie A season with the thrashing of the newly-promoted side, but the Partenopei coach is keen for the side not to rest on their laurels and keep pushing to get better.

"What matters most to us is how we play, how much improvement we make, how many mistakes we make," the 51-year-old told reporters after the match. "What matters, besides the result, is that we go into games with the right approach and we're doing that very well.

"Of course we have ambitions, you always do, because you can always keep improving - that's precisely what we're looking to do.

"There are lots of players showing improvement in this team and they have the potential to achieve great things. The main thing is we try to stay fit and keep helping each other. I've got lots of options in this squad."

Inter president Massimo Moratti says he anticipated the Milan-based side would triumph and praised the influence that Mazzarri has had since replacing Andrea Stramaccioni during the summer.

"I expected us to play well," he said. "The result is another matter because at a certain point Sassuolo's heads dropped. The game went very well though.

"I didn't expect [Mazzarri] to have quite this impact. He's done brilliantly because he's a hard worker and he's instilled the same sense of joy and duty that he has in everyone else. Hopefully that will continue."
