It's a unique feeling to be back at Milan, says Matri

The new Rossoneri signing expresses his delight at securing a move back to the club where he began his career after completing his transfer from Serie A rivals Juventus
Alessandro Matri says it is a unique feeling to be back at AC Milan after finalising a reported €11 million move from Juventus on Friday.

The Italian striker, who scored 29 times in 83 appearances for the reigning Serie A champions, was a product of the Rossoneri's youth system but made only one senior appearance at the club before moving to Cagliari in 2007.

The 29-year-old forward, speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, was quick to emphasise his excitement at returning to San Siro and is hoping to make a bigger impact in his second stint at the club.

"It has been 10 years and I gained a lot of experience elsewhere," he said.

"It's a unique feeling to be back where you grew up. There is also a coach I already worked with, so there are many positive factors."

Matri, who established his reputation as one of Serie A's top strikers whilst at Cagliari under now Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri, could now also make his debut against the Rossoblu on Sunday.

"The coach [Allegri] knows me and that will help me to settle in, but I am not in a privileged position because of that or my return to Milan after 10 years," he added.

"I don’t expect to play more at Milan than I did at Juventus. I hope to, of course, but I am at the team's disposal."
