The club's director of football says they will not spare any effort into bringing the Brazilian attacker back to his homeland amid interest from rivals SantosCruzeiro are determined to sign AC Milan forward Robinho from under the nose of their Brazilian rivals Santos, according to the club's director of football Alexandre Mattos.
Robinho's agent said on Friday that the Rossoneri's valuation of the player is proving to be a stumbling block for Peixe and that has opened the door to a potential swoop from Cruzeiro.
Mattos admits that Santos are favourites to land the former Real Madrid attacker, but that has not stopped Cruzeiro from expressing a strong interest.
"We had talks about 15 days ago and I made it clear that, for Robinho, Cruzeiro will not spare any effort to sign a big-name player like him," Mattos told Radio Itatiaia.
"We want Robinho. Cruzeiro has even talked about values with him.
"He made it clear that Santos are his priority since they sold Neymar. That's what he wants. But I made it clear the doors are open and that Cruzeiro will not spare any effort."
