The Spaniard will succeed Walter Mazzarri at the San Paolo and the former Partenopei star believes the new Inter coach will be a hard act to follow
The Partenopei finished second in Serie A this term under the 51-year-old, who left at the end of the season to join Inter, and the former Italy international says the Spaniard will struggle to top his predecessor.
"Napoli finished in second place this season and to improve would mean first – that won’t be easy," the 46-year-old told ANSA.
"His Inter experience will serve him well even if Napoli are different. It’s probably an even tougher place to work at but a much more exciting one for a coach like him.
"I’m sure that he will settle well and I hope he will be allowed the time necessary to set up the team as he wants."
Benitez led Chelsea to the Europe League title and third place in the Premier League during his interim spell at Stamford Bridge this season.
