Andrea Ranocchia has admitted that Inter must improve next season if they are to challenge Juventus for the Serie A title.
The Giuseppe Meazza side have been struggling throughout the 2012-13 campaign and currently sit eighth in the league table, much to the disappointment of Ranocchia.
"We must finish the campaign as best we can and then try to do better next season and overhaul Juventus," the centre-back told the official Inter website.
Ranocchia then reflected on his side's 3-1 Serie A loss against Napoli and stressed that Edinson Cavani, who netted all of the Partenopei's goals, is not the most difficult striker he has faced.
"Is Cavani the hardest player I've come up against? They always ask me this and I always say the same thing: it's [Diego] Milito and fortunately I'm on the same team as him now," he said.
"Of course Cavani is a very good player, as is [Lazio striker Miroslav] Klose, who we play against on Wednesday."
Inter will be looking to return to winning ways on Wednesday at home against Lazio.
